Sierra Leone female entertainer and CEO of Zedzee Multimedia, Zainab Sheriff has taken to Facebook to express her thoughts following her arrest and detention in Freetown.
Reports emerged that the “Mamie Na Power” singer was arrested on Tuesday for alleged offenses contrary to the Cybersecurity and cybercrime law of 2021.
Sheriff, who hosts the yearly Big Sister Salone show had earlier recorded a live video online expressing her frustration with the current government of Sierra Leone.
Amongst other remarks, Sheriff said the government of President Julius Maada Bio is killing her happiness adding that the majority of the citizens are not happy.
“How many more do you plan to kill if you lose this election and want to be in power by force? You cannot handle the people with care, you cannot talk to them with respect, and you cannot lead the people. You are not a president for the people of Sierra Leone, you are a mistake and I pray for Allah’s help in this Ramadan to save us”, She said in the viral video.
Following her arrest, several celebrities and influential personalities called for her including Basita Michael, AdvocAid, Morris amongst others.
She was eventually granted bail on Thursday after spending two nights at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters in Freetown.
“It’s like Big Sister with no cameras, it’s no big deal. The lawyers said you have a choice to run or face the music, I Love music 😍 🎤”, Zainab wrote on the Facebook page, Voice of The Future Sierra Leone which she had went live days earlier.
The post which was later deleted generated a few reactions from her followers.
