Two associates of Sierra Leonean hip-hop star Kao Denero and members of the Black Leo music group — artists Medlenero and Amidu — have been granted bail after being detained at the Pademba Road Correctional Centre in Freetown.

The duo was held in connection with allegations of violence against popular Sierra Leonean musician Famous. Details surrounding the incident remain under investigation, but the arrests had sparked considerable public attention and debate within the entertainment community.

Confirming their release, Kao Denero — Sierra Leone’s Special Envoy for Entertainment and leader of the Black Leo movement — took to social media to express relief and gratitude.

“In life, countless unwanted circumstances may emerge for fellow men to see how resilient you are,” Kao wrote. “Today, we have just achieved the freedom of two members of my entourage and team — Black Leo artists Medlenero and Amidu — who were detained for various allegations.”

He extended special thanks to his legal team, particularly Barrister Zachariah Azibo Kanu and his colleagues, as well as former MP Hon. Alieu Ibrahim Kamara (Hon. Koyo), for their support throughout the ordeal.

Kao also had a message for those who he believes took pleasure in the setbacks his team experienced:

“May God have mercy on all those who have been celebratory towards the pitfalls of others. I believe in light over darkness. Black Leo for life. The saga continues.”

As the case develops, fans and followers of both Black Leo and Famous continue to monitor the situation closely, hopeful for resolution and peace within Sierra
