Stephan Tamba Bayoh, the Sierra Leonean artist formerly known as hip-hop rapper Mr. One, has announced his transition from secular music to gospel singing. The change comes after Bayoh underwent life-changing surgery with Mercy Ships to address long-standing, unexplained pain.
Bayoh revealed that his decision to shift his musical focus is a direct result of a covenant he made with God. He vowed to dedicate his work to God if he received complete healing from his ailment.
In a video statement, Bayoh described the surgical procedure, noting that his neck was incised to remove the source of his discomfort.
Prior to his transition, Mr. One was recognized for his advocacy, utilizing hip-hop as a platform to address social issues and champion social change through his music.
Happy for you Mr. 1ne.
Proud of you.
