The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio hosted the popular Sierra Leonean Rapper, Alhaji Amadu Bah “Boss La” in her office on Friday, January 5, 2024.
The controversial musician, who was serving a nine-year sentence for assault and robbery, was among 352 prisoners granted a New Year’s pardon by President Julius Maada Bio.
Before his release, the First Lady had collaborated with local entertainers to directly appeal to her husband, President Julius Maada Bio, requesting a Presidential Pardon for Boss La.
In her sincere plea, the First Lady highlighted her affiliation with the entertainment industry, expressing, “I belong to the entertainment industry family. My husband, please consider my love and join the entertainers in asking for your pardon and utilizing your presidential power to release Alhaji Amadu, known as LAJ, from prison. As a mother, LAJ is my brother and son. Please, make 2024 a wonderful year by freeing LAJ. I believe he has learned his lesson and is prepared to be a positive person. We earnestly beg you to release LAJ for us.”
After meeting the RFM rapper in her office on Friday, Fatima Bio described the day as “amazing.” She further expressed confidence in Boss La’s ability to become a “leader in his field” and encouraged him to embrace this opportunity for positive change.
“I have always believed in him to be a leader in his field of work and I pray that he will take this opportunity and run with it in a positive way.” the First Lady wrote.

To Allah be the Glory Ameen. Please Boss LAJ be mindful of your friends. If you don’t have a friend among your team that will say no to some of your public behavior then you don’t have a friend or a good team. I have been a victim for helping friends I thought were friends indeed and in-need during my days in Banjul, The Gambia.(The year 2000 to 2010) They are just with you like puppy dogs. What I’ve learnt – to my cost – on several occasions in my life, is that people will put up with all manner of bad behaviour so long as you’re giving them what they want. They’ll laugh and get into it and enjoy the anecdotes and the craziness and the mayhem as long as you’re going well but the minute you’re not, you’re fucked. They’ll wipe their hands of you without a second glance.
