Rapper Alhaji Amadu Bah, popularly known as LAJ, has reignited a public dispute with the Mayor of Kenema, Thomas Baio, after allegedly directing an indecent insult at the mayor during a live performance in Bo.
The incident reportedly occurred at the close of a recent show in Bo, where LAJ addressed the audience and made an offensive remark directed at Mayor Baio. A video of the moment has since circulated widely on social media, drawing renewed public attention to a long-running feud between the two figures.
In the circulating footage, LAJ is seen engaging the crowd before making the remark, which has been widely described as indecent in several online posts. Following the comment, sections of the audience reportedly applauded and cheered the rapper, rather than expressing disapproval.
The latest development comes against the backdrop of a previous confrontation in May 2024 along the Bo–Kenema Highway, during which serious allegations were made involving LAJ, his entourage, and Mayor Baio.
According to earlier reports, an incident occurred on Sunday, 5 May 2024, at Jembeh in which a Guinean truck driver was allegedly assaulted by LAJ and members of his entourage over claims of reckless driving. Mayor Baio, who was also travelling along the same route, reportedly intervened and advised on the situation, but was allegedly insulted during the exchange.
Subsequent allegations further claimed that the confrontation escalated at the Wanjama Checkpoint, where the Mayor reported the matter to police. It was alleged that LAJ physically confronted the Mayor, while other individuals in his convoy were accused of assault and theft of valuables, including cash and diamonds.
Police officers stationed at the checkpoint were also reportedly involved in efforts to control the situation, with allegations of assaults involving members of LAJ’s entourage. The matter led to multiple arrests and investigations at the time.
Authorities have not yet issued a fresh statement regarding the latest incident in Bo, while the resurfacing of the feud has sparked renewed debate on social media over artist conduct and respect for public officials.
