Rapper Samza has weighed in on a growing social media dispute among Sierra Leonean musicians, defending fellow rapper Kao Denero.
The feud follows news that Kao Denero had apologized to musician Famous after a long-running dispute that escalated into a lawsuit.
Shortly after the apology was made public on Wednesday, musicians Drizilik and popular producer Nashito Kula, who have had past clashes with Kao Denero, took to social media to mock him. Drizilik posted on Facebook: “Cow big tay e day fit na pot,” while Nashito Kula wrote: “Ballon big tay nr to for needle.”
Samza, known to share a close relationship with Kao, responded with a subtle defense on social media, writing: “It’s been over 20 years, by now ina for don know say dis particular Kao nor dae do na awujor pot! So ina advise congofoe spoon en da small plasas pot for look for other conversation.”
Kao Denero currently serves as Sierra Leone’s Entertainment Ambassador, but the local entertainment industry has faced challenges due to ongoing feuds among entertainers, particularly musicians. Support between artists has often been limited, with backing coming primarily from select groups or cabals. Many stakeholders and fans have called on entertainers to end unnecessary rivalries in order to strengthen the industry and enable Sierra Leone to compete more effectively with other African countries.
The exchange has stirred debate among fans and followers, dividing opinions on the ongoing feud. It highlights the competitive and sometimes contentious nature of Sierra Leone’s music scene, where social media continues to amplify rivalries and public reactions.
