Promoting Culture and Tourism is one of the major thematic areas of the Foundation that serves as a platform for passing knowledge to the next generation and contributes to the Socio-economic development of the societies we belong.
Early next year (2023), the Bai Bureh Foundation has planned to take the lead in organizing Inter-Schools Cultural Exhibition and Innovation Challenge among Secondary Schools in Port Loko City in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education.
One of the steps to bring this initiative to life is by forming cultural school clubs. Members of the club within the week will meet on a scheduled date that they will discuss and practice cultural education which has been part of the curriculum for sometime now but hardly noticed by some.
Cultural Education is part of the school curriculum but it requires a great attention so that our children can be able to learn some valuable lessons that are directly associated with what defines us as a country and the various communities we live.
This drive of the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation provides the opportunity for young people to develop their cultural interests and identities to the fullest, so they can discover their talent’s, enjoy themselves and experience the socialization and participation associated with the various cultural aspects of life & their communities.
The Inter-Schools Cultural Exhibition and Innovation Challenge will undoubtedly help young people to have equal opportunities to develop their cognitive, creative, physical, personal and social qualities through Cultural Education. The development of these qualities among our school going population is of importance in terms of their contributions to society, both now and in the future.
Cultural Education therefore deserves a fully-fledged place in the Education system and should be considered as one among the awareness raising tools we give to our children on their journey to adulthood because Culture shapes and gives expression to identity, makes personnel and mass communication possible, drives the perception and experience of our communities, and also one of the driving forces behind the future economic development of any country in which Sierra Leone is not an exemption. Cultural Education unlocks and gives access to the wealth of cultural history and insights into modern-day cultural communication.
The Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation through the Inter-Schools Cultural Exhibition and Innovation Challenge will drive a society where young people will fully embrace and understand their culture, and to be able to transcend to generation to generation. The event will be fully packaged to unfold a broad spectrum of Socio-Cultural interactions among young people.
As a well known organization with an array of dreams to achieve in due time, the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation opened hands to partners who wish to make an enquiry and join in this cultural education quest.
