Introducing Evin Incir, the Chief Observer of the European Union Elections Observer Mission in Sierra Leone.

Evin Incir was born on June 15, 1984, in Diyabakir, Turkey. She is a Swedish politician of Kurdish descent, representing the Swedish Democratic Party, and has been a member of the European Parliament since the 2019 European Elections.

Her journey in politics began at the age of 14, growing up as a young female with an immigrant background in a suburb of Gothenburg. Evin became aware of the significance of party politics and realized that her opinions would not be heard without active involvement in the political arena. This led her to engage in the activities of the Swedish Social Democratic Youth League, where she discovered the power of political engagement.

Since 2019, Evin Incir has been serving on the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice, and Home Affairs.

Additionally, she has been a member of the European Parliament’s delegations to the EU-Turkey joint Parliamentary Committee since 2019 and to the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly since 2021.

Evin is actively involved in various intergroups within the European Parliament. She is a member of the European Parliament Intergroup on Trade Unions, the European Parliament Intergroup on LGBT rights, and the European Parliament Intergroup on Western Sahara.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Evin Incir received the Best Newcomer award at the Parliament Magazine’s annual MEP Awards in December 2020.

Furthermore, she was honored with the diversity and social impact award at the Parliament Magazine’s MEP Awards in June 2022
