Introducing our Woman Crush for this week; Dr. Theressa Tenneh Dick.

Dr. Theresa Dick, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture in Sierra Leone, is a dedicated specialist in rural development, boasting extensive experience in agricultural research, extension, value chain survey, multi-stakeholder training, project planning and management, data management, and financial management.

She study her undergraduate Degree at Njala University, Sierra Leone and Masters Degree in China. She had her doctorate degree at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

Prior to her appointment as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, she served as the Project Manager for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, overseeing the Youth in Agriculture Project.

Dr. Dick is a strong advocate for women’s empowerment, particularly in the field of agriculture. She has positively influenced numerous Sierra Leonean women, encouraging them to engage in sustainable farming. Her unwavering belief is that women are the backbone of food security in Sierra Leone, and she recognizes the need to rectify the existing gender disparities in agricultural opportunities.

As a Food Security Advocate, she has actively involved women in agricultural investment as an integral part of a sustainable strategy for economic growth. Many women have gained valuable skills and experiences under her guidance, contributing to food security in the country. Dr. Dick fervently calls for equal opportunities for women in agriculture, ensuring they receive the same chances as their male counterparts.
