The Government of Sierra Leone has on Thursday, 15th May, 2025 released its latest update on the mpox outbreak, reporting a vast increase in new infected cases.

As put forward by the National Public Health Agency, the country currently has a record 150 new confirmed mpox cases, with no new recovery or death, and a total death toll to 13.

The cumulative number of confirmed mpox cases in Sierra Leone now stands at 2354, with 1932 cases currently active. Currently, record confirms that there is a total number of 409 recoveries since the infectious disease broke out.

Geographically, the Western Urban district continues to be the most affected area, with a total of 1513 confirmed cases. Western Rural follows with 496 cases. Among the other districts, Bombali has reported 120 cases, and Kenema has 37.

The gender distribution of confirmed cases shows that 1122 cases are female and 1232 are male.
