In commemoration of the “Autism Awareness” month [April] GTBank Sierra Leone has supported Puzzle Pieces in their annual fund-raising event of which 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Schools helping children on the Autism Spectrum in Sierra Leone.
World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognized day celebrated annually on April 2, As a member States of the United Nations, Sierra Leone is always encouraged to take measures to raise awareness about autistic individuals throughout the world.
Meanwhile, in Sierra Leone these children are mostly not traditionally accepted simply because they learn differently than regular school children.
Therefore, GTBank being the physical health-sensitive and the community- driven Bank thought it fit to support the cause by raising awareness in all branches nationwide.
Sierra Leone has experienced its fair share of challenges, because of a decade-long civil war, followed by a devastating Ebola outbreak in 2014 – 2015 and mudslides in 2017, which severely destroyed the country’s infrastructure, disrupted the delivery of public services, and led to the death of thousands. Despite these setbacks experienced, GTBank has been contributing positively towards the progress of Sierra Leone in various sector as part of it Cooperate Social responsibility, though there are gaps in addressing the needs of individuals with disability.
