Africell Sierra Leone has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the media by sponsoring the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) Media Iftar 2026, held at the compound of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation in Freetown.
The annual event, organised by the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists, brought together journalists, editors, bloggers, and other media practitioners to observe the holy month of Ramadan in a spirit of unity, reflection, and professional camaraderie.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Africell Sierra Leone, Shadi Gerjawi, the company’s support for the gathering reflects Africell’s long-standing culture of promoting and strengthening the media landscape in Sierra Leone.
Gerjawi said Africell remains committed to working closely with media practitioners, noting that the company values the role journalists play in informing the public and shaping national conversations.

The SLAJ Media Iftar is an annual gathering that provides an opportunity for members of the media fraternity to break the fast together, share a meal, and offer prayers during the holy month.
Organisers say the event also serves as a platform for strengthening relationships among media professionals while encouraging reflection and solidarity within the profession.
Africell’s sponsorship of this year’s Media Iftar highlights the company’s continued partnership with the media sector and its dedication to fostering strong relationships with journalists across Sierra Leone.
