As part of sustained efforts to curb drug trafficking and substance abuse across the country, a joint security team comprising personnel from the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has arrested an alleged drug dealer at the Masiaka (MAC-P) checkpoint along the Bo–Masiaka Highway.
The arrest was made on Monday, 5th January 2026, during a routine checkpoint operation. According to security sources, the suspect, identified as Alhaji Sillah of Portee, was intercepted and thoroughly searched by officers on duty.
During the search, the joint team reportedly discovered six parcels of suspected kush, a prohibited substance, in the suspect’s possession. He was immediately taken into custody for further questioning.
Both the suspect and the seized exhibits are currently being held at the police station, where investigations are ongoing. Authorities say the suspect will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
The Sierra Leone Police and RSLAF have reiterated their commitment to maintaining public safety and have warned individuals involved in drug trafficking and related activities that security forces remain vigilant and resolute in enforcing the law.
