In a dramatic turn of events at Ross Road Court No 1, Magistrate Sahr Kekura rescinded the bail of Mohamed Lamin Kamara, an alleged fake land vendor, after he failed to appear before the court. The decision came following a bench warrant issued against Kamara for his failure to honor the terms of his bail.
The accused, Mohamed Lamin Kamara, had been charged in court for his alleged involvement in defrauding complainant Marion Alfreda Sankoh. According to the police file, the charges stem from an incident on Tuesday, 16th March 2021, in Grafton.
The police allege that Kamara, with the intent to defraud, obtained eighty-five thousand New Leones from Marion Alfreda Sankoh. Furthermore, he is accused of falsely pretending to have one and a half town land for sale at Grafton, obtaining thirty million Leones from the complainant. Additionally, the police claim Kamara received payments totaling forty-five million Leones by installment, deceitfully asserting ownership of a piece of land in Grafton.
In counts six and seven, the police assert that Kamara, with fraudulent intent, persuaded Marion Alfreda Sankoh to prepare a survey site plan valued at five thousand New Leones for a land he purported to be his own.
During the court proceedings, Marion Alfreda Sankoh, the complainant, recounted her interaction with the accused on Tuesday, 16th March 2023. She detailed how Kamara approached her, claiming to have a piece of land for sale at Grafton for seventy-five million old Leones. After negotiations, the complainant made payments, totaling seventy-five million Leones, and a land sales agreement was allegedly made in the presence of a lawyer named Zack and community stakeholders.
However, the prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Osman Mohamed Bangura, sought an adjourned date to confer properly with the complainant, who faced challenges narrating the events.
The Bench granted the prosecutor’s request for an adjournment, subsequently rescinding the bail of the accused. The case is now scheduled to continue on the 21st of November 2023
