Following the peaceful passing of Alhaji Mohamed K. Songa on May 23, 2026, a high-level delegation from the Southern Region of the All People’s Congress (APC) has paid a formal condolence and solidarity visit to the bereaved family of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) National Chairman, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa.
The late Alhaji Mohamed K. Songa was the father of Chairman Songa.
The APC delegation, which visited the family residence in Bo City on Friday, was led by Comrade Ing. Prince Allieu and Comrade Melvin Rogers, Public Relations Officer 2 for the APC United Kingdom and Ireland Chapter. Other members of the delegation included Comrades Alie Katisco Sesay, Tom Kaizer Koker, Ibrahim Conteh, Ing. Momoh Bockarie, and Sheikh Ousman Conteh.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the APC leadership extended heartfelt condolences and expressed deep sympathy to Chairman Songa and the entire family during what they described as a period of profound grief. They emphasised that despite political differences, members of both the APC and the SLPP remain united by a shared national identity and human compassion.
The delegation noted that standing together in times of sorrow reflects the true spirit of national unity, adding that long-standing friendships, family ties, and shared experiences continue to bridge political divides across the country.
As part of their gesture of solidarity, the APC stakeholders presented a financial contribution to support the bereaved family.

In his response, SLPP National Chairman Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa expressed sincere appreciation to the APC delegation for what he described as a thoughtful and meaningful visit. He noted that the gesture exemplifies the enduring national ethos of “One Country, One People.”
Chairman Songa further encouraged increased cross-party engagement beyond periods of mourning, urging political actors to work together in the broader interest of the people of Sierra Leone.
The visit concluded on a warm note, marked by shared reflections, light moments, and prayers offered for the repose of the departed soul.
