The Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC), Osman Foday Yansaneh, has reportedly announced plans to convene an emergency meeting involving APC parliamentarians and party members across the country following an unexpected development in a court case involving the party’s National Secretary General.
Yansaneh said the meeting, scheduled for tomorrow, February 17, 2026, is intended to “put heads together positively” to find a way forward for the party’s National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya, and other related party activities.
Dumbuya was brought before a magistrate’s court to answer to public order offences pursuant to the Public Order Act 1965, as well as what were described as inchoate allegations. However, according to a witness who spoke shortly after the court proceedings, the matter did not proceed as expected.
The witness alleged that the presiding magistrate left the courtroom without notice or explanation before the case was called. “Instead of the magistrate actively presiding over the matter or taking immediate steps to address the case, the magistrate unceremoniously left the courtroom without any notice or explanation,” the witness said.
The observer further claimed that the court adjourned the matter without indicating when it would resume, leaving the case “hanging indefinitely.”
Reacting to the development, Yansaneh expressed concern over how the matter was handled. He said the way the magistrate went about proceedings was troubling and required immediate attention, prompting the decision to call an emergency meeting of party stakeholders nationwide.
As of press time, there was no official statement from the court regarding the circumstances surrounding the adjournment. The case involving Dumbuya remains pending.
