The All Political Parties Association (APPA) paid a visit to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Headquarters in Freetown to express their deep appreciation to Inspector General Mr. William Fayia Sellu and his team for their outstanding professionalism and maintaining a peaceful environment during the recently concluded multi-tier elections.

During the visit, the delegation, led by Mr. Prince Cocker, Chairman of APPA, acknowledged and praised the SLP for their exceptional policing brilliance throughout the electoral processes, which garnered attention from both local and international bodies.

Mr. Cocker emphasized that the purpose of their visit was to extend gratitude on behalf of the opposition political parties in Sierra Leone, recognizing the crucial role played by the security sector in ensuring a free, fair, and transparent election. He commended the security posture of the SLP and highlighted the personal security provided to presidential aspirants and running mates, describing the personnel as disciplined and professional.

In response, the Inspector General of Police expressed his deep appreciation for the recognition and support from APPA. He acknowledged that it was a historic moment for the SLP, as it was the first time that organizations and individuals openly praised their work and performance following a multi-tier election. He extended his gratitude to the multiplier forces who stood by the police to fulfill their constitutional mandate of protecting lives, property, and maintaining law and order.

Mr. Sellu expressed his satisfaction with APPA’s adherence to the rules and regulations set before the elections, emphasizing that the early preparation and planning of the security sector significantly contributed to the success of the overall electoral process.
