A recent report has alleged that Sunday worship at The Axe of Zion Covenant Ministry was violently disrupted when a group of armed men, reportedly dressed in military uniforms, stormed the church premises.
According to church officials, the assailants injured at least two congregants and vandalized property during the attack, which they describe as a troubling escalation of a longstanding land dispute.
The incident, which occurred in Freetown, has left the church community in shock and fear. Church leaders allege that the attack is connected to a court case over ownership of the church’s land, which has been pending since September 11, 2024.
According to the church, despite possessing documents from Court No. 8 validating their claim, enforcement of the court’s decision has been ineffective. “Our sanctuary was destroyed and our members attacked by those who think they are above the law,” the church’s leader said, adding that both police and local authorities failed to act despite being shown legal documentation.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the attackers may be acting under the influence of powerful figures trying to unlawfully seize the land.
Among the victims was a church elder and a female congregant who suffered a severe head injury requiring stitches. The church claims to have video and audio recordings of the assault.
Attempts to initially frame the dispute as a domestic property issue have reportedly been corrected in court, with legal authorities confirming it as a land ownership case.
While a bench warrant has been issued for some suspects, none have been apprehended, according to church officials.
“We have followed every legal channel. But our pleas have gone unheard,” said the church leadership. “We now call on national authorities, human rights defenders, and the media to stand with us. Justice must prevail.”
Drawing strength from biblical figures like Esther and Joseph, the congregation remains hopeful. “We believe God is with us in this trial,” they said. “Like the heroes of scripture, we will stand firm.”
Call to Action: The church is appealing for immediate intervention by Parliament, government agencies, human rights organizations, and the press. Supporters or interested parties are encouraged to contact the church at +23275599744 for more information or to obtain access to the recorded evidence.
No one is above God!!! God we revenge for the church and see how they will be helpless 💯🇸🇱 in Jesus mighty name Amen
This so-called disruptors of church service must be discipline and face the law of the land for injured and damages. It is really undone to take the bull by the horn. We are living in a country where there’s law.
The land in question does not belong to the church one of the family assist the church to be holding services there and later they were asked by the owners of the said land to quit but the church members refused that was the start of all the problem highlighted by the church . One of resident of land in question which is a make shift structure was burned down I think that cause the community member to vandalize the said make shift church.
This country is a real bullsheet. No law and order, the security sector is nothing good to write home about. So so big full
Land grabing disputes, if you truly owned the land as you claimed this would not have happened but I am sure your ownership is a question mark?
Wae na paopa tiffman we geh for president, tin den lek dis go happen. How do you storm a church like this, when church is in service no less? We don’t know yet if they were actually military personnel, the uniforms may be fake, but I pray to God that someone in power didn’t abuse power lek discand actually sent soja men dem to go terrorize people and if so, hope everyone involved is made to answer
The Manas which people respond to certain incident is not professional when you heard about such stories you need to do your findings before you respond negatively against the government or against the country or against the church for you to see military people to storm in church during service there must be a tangible reason behind that there must be a violation of the law through by the church that must have give the military power to do such things for me something wrong somewhere else let’s do our findings properly professionally before we respond negatively against the states or against the government
Why can’t they wait until the authority that’s vested with the responsibility give the church the mandate to vacate the land? That act was an unlawful confrontation and I’m happy SL is a law abiding country and on no account they should go in there to vandalized and disrupt the entire process while service is on!
We pray that justice be served IJN 🙏🏼
