Four individuals, namely Mohamed Suliaman Kanneh, Hassanatu Bangura, Sallieu Kamara, and Mamoud Kargbo, have been brought before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Sierra Leone.
The four are facing charges of allegedly conspiring with unidentified persons to defraud the Association of Social Micro Finance Sierra Leone Limited of a substantial amount of money.
The accused have appeared before the court to answer to charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, as per the legal provisions.
The particulars of the first offence indicate that between an unspecified date in September 2022 and December 2022, at No.1 St. Peter’s Street Lunsar in the Port Loko Judicial District within the Northern Province of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mohamed Suliaman Kanneh, Hassanatu Bangura, and Sallieu Kamara are alleged to have conspired, along with other unidentified individuals, to defraud the Association of Social Advancement (ASA) Micro Finance Sierra Leone Limited Institution of the sum of NLe810,749.
Moving on to the second count, Mohamed Sulaiman Kanneh, who was employed as a servant by the Association of Social Advancement (ASA) Micro Finance Sierra Leone Limited Institution, is accused of larceny by servant. The incident is reported to have occurred within the same timeframe, between September 2022 and December 2022, at No. 1 St. Peter’s Street Lunsar. Kanneh is alleged to have stolen NLe15,875.
Similarly, the third count pertains to Hassanatu Bangura, another servant employed by the same institution. She is accused of larceny by servant, having allegedly stolen NLe61,546 between September 2022 and December 2022 at No. 1 St. Peter’s Street Lunsar.
Lastly, Sallieu Kamara, who was also employed by the Association of Social Advancement (ASA) Micro Finance Sierra Leone Limited Institution, is facing a charge of larceny by servant. It is claimed that Kamara stole NLe4,285 within the same period, between September 2022 and December 2022, at No. 1 St. Peter’s Street Lunsar.
The case has been adjourned to September 5, 2023, as the legal proceedings continue.
