The ongoing treason trial between the state and twelve accused faced a setback yesterday due to the absence of the eighth accused, Bai Mahmoud Bangura, who reported sick.

During the proceedings, state prosecutor Ahmed G. Bockarie informed Justice Komba Kamanda that Mr. Bai Mahmoud Bangura was not present in court and the Chief Correctional Officer Smith informed the court about the medical condition of the 8th accused, Bai Mahmoud Bangura.

He presented a medical report which was perused by the judge, Justice Komba Kamanda confirming Bai Mahmoud’s hospitalization.

Justice Kamanda ruled that the trial could not proceed without the presence of Bai Mahmoud as one of the accused persons. The matter was adjourned to Monday 26th February 2024.
