On Saturday, June 22, 2024, Magistrate Peter Gogra of the NASSIT Court issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the Sierra Leone Road Transport Corporation (SLRTC) and its Director, Isaac Ken-Green. This decision followed an application by UDI Sesay Esq, representing the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT).
The bench warrant pertains to allegations that both the SLRTC and Isaac Ken-Green failed to pay social security contributions, a violation of Section 32 (1) (c) of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust Act No.5 of 2001.
According to the charges, the defendants neglected to remit social security contributions totaling 60,079.69 Leones for their employees between January and March 2023. This failure occurred at their establishment located on Blackhall Road, Kissy, Freetown.
The case, which remains unresolved due to the absence of the defendants and their legal representation, has been adjourned until June 29, 2024.
