The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development on Friday 30 August 2024 successfully concluded an engagement with the Pujehun District Council and sector coordination committees in Pujehun town.
The event took place at the Pujehun district council hall alone Jah Street, aimed to strengthen the working relationship between key committees of the council and sector coordination committees.
During the engagement, Mrs Mbalu Kamara, Deputy Director of Rural Development at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, highlighted the importance of formalizing the rules of engagement between the council and the various sectors in Pujehun district. She mentioned that while sector coordination committees had been meeting, there was a lack of written terms of reference. As a result, a terms of reference was agreed upon to help guide sector coordination in the district.
The event concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by the district functional heads, committing themselves to work together to strengthen service delivery within their respective sectors and maintain a good working relationship with the council.
Mrs Mbalu Kamara said one of the main challenges identified during the engagement was the delay in the disbursement of funds for service delivery. To address this issue, NGOs working in the various sectors were invited to complement government efforts.
Mrs Kamara urged all sectors to adhere to the agreements outlined in the MOU and work towards achieving their shared goals. She emphasized the importance of respecting the commitments made during the engagement to ensure effective service delivery in Pujehun district.
