Popular politician and journalist, Dr. Sylvia Blyden, has taken to her Facebook page to explain the reason behind the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss the case involving Dr. Samura Kamara, Paul Kamara, and Rev. Coleson Turay.

After the recent release of a document by the Supreme Court, which threw out the case between Dr. Samura Kamara, Paul Kamara, and Rev. Coleson Turay, concerns were raised regarding the legal understanding of the matter.

The people of Sierra Leone were left puzzled by the reasons behind this ruling, leading many individuals to express their questions and opinions on various social media and other platforms.

Given her background as a journalist and a doctor, Sylvia Olayinka Blyden utilized her verified Facebook account to provide an explanation for the Supreme Court’s decision.

She said, “Let me explain in Layman’s language, what the Supreme Court is saying in this document. The Court is saying that they waited for ten (10) days for the Lawyer for Paul Kamara and Revd Coleson Turay to file what is called a “Statement of Case” but after 10 days of no such filing, the Supreme Court threw the case out”.

Going forward she explained the meaning of what she called ‘statement of case’ by saying “A Statement of Case up at the Supreme Court is a bundle of materials that lists down the names of their Witnesses, their facts, particulars, documents or other evidence, statutes and any previous cases cited along with an Affidavit to verify”.

She ended by telling the public about a decision that the Plaintiff did not take that resulted to the Supreme Court Decision. She said, “This was never done and so after waiting for them for up to 10 Days, the Supreme Court Registrar issued a Certificate two days ago on May 29th saying Paul Kamara and Revd Coleson had not obeyed the Rules calling for them to file Statement of Case within 10 days. Therefore the Supreme Court threw the faulty filing out of their midst”.
