In a public notice released on November 20, 2023, the Bo City Council declared Saturday, November 25, 2023, as General Cleaning Day in Bo City. The announcement urges residents with untidy garages, neglected plots of land, overgrown grass/bushes, and clogged drainages to conduct thorough cleaning.
The Council emphasizes that from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM on the designated day, all non-governmental organizations, commercial, government, and private vehicle owners must keep off the streets. Violators of the cleaning day regulations will be compelled to participate in the cleaning efforts.
Parents and guardians are urged to advise their children against using the streets as football fields during the cleaning period, as any individuals engaged in such activities will face legal consequences.
To ensure compliance, the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), and the Bo City Council Metropolitan Police will be present throughout the municipality to enforce the law.
The Bo City Council appeals to the public’s cooperation, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in maintaining a clean and hygienic environment. Failure to adhere to the regulations not only results in mandatory participation in the cleaning activities but also legal repercussions.
Residents are encouraged to embrace this initiative, contributing to the overall well-being of Bo City and fostering a sense of civic responsibility among its inhabitants.
