The Old Bo Boys’ Association (OBBA) hosted a press briefing titled “Meet the Press OBBA @ 97″ to engage the media on preparations for the upcoming 120th anniversary of Bo School. The engagement was held on Wednesday, the 25th March 2026.
The association outlined ambitious plans for the 120th Anniversary of the Bo School.
Furthermore, the upcoming celebrations will be held under the evocative theme: “Celebrating a Rich Legacy and Inspiring Generations.”

Additionally, the briefing took a nostalgic turn as one of the school’s most venerable alumni, Dr. Sama Banya (Admission No. 592), provided a masterclass in the institution’s origins. Dr. Banya traced the school’s roots back to the aftermath of the Hut Tax War, noting its founding by the British colonial administration specifically to educate traditional leaders, their sons, and selected nominees.
This historical foundation, he noted, has evolved into a century-long tradition of excellence that has shaped the leadership landscape of modern Sierra Leone.
The President of OBBA, Ing. Hadji Daboh, provided the media with a detailed roadmap of the activities planned for the landmark anniversary. While the school turns 120, the association itself is celebrating its 97th year (OBBA @ 97), serving as the backbone for the school’s continued development.

The event was moderated by Sajor Aziz Kamara, OBBA’s Public Relations Officer and Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, who emphasized that the engagement was designed to ensure national and international visibility for the historic milestone.
The “Meet the Press” event serves as a call to action for all “Old Boys” across the diaspora and within Sierra Leone to mobilize for what is expected to be a massive homecoming. With 120 years of history to celebrate, the association aims to use the anniversary not just for reflection, but as a platform to further modernize the school’s facilities and academic programs.
