A disturbing incident has emerged from Bondayelahun Village, Kamaje Chiefdom Moyamba District where 10 young men are alleged to have gang-raped a 16-year-old girl on July 14, 2025.
According to reports, the suspects lured the girl to a remote area and incapacitated her with what is believed to be Tramadol pills. While she was unconscious, they reportedly abused her before hiding her in an abandoned house in the village.
Upon regaining consciousness, the girl managed to shout for help, prompting local authorities to intervene. Seven of the alleged perpetrators were arrested shortly after the incident and the case has been referred to the Taiama Police Station for further investigation.
This incident has sparked outrage in the community, and many are calling for justice. Authorities are expected to provide more information as the investigation unfolds.
Rape is a serious offence in Sierra Leone with perpetrators spending over 10 years in prison in some cases. The establishment of a Sexual Model Court in Freetown and the amendment of the Sexual Offences Act have enabled Judiciary to dispense cases of rape speedily.
