Methodist Boys’ High School (MBHS) recently celebrated the unveiling of a new 18-classroom block and the return to a single shift system.

The event, themed “Great Is God’s Faithfulness,” was attended by alumni, students, and dignitaries.

Founded in 1874, MBHS has a distinguished history, but recent challenges affected its educational quality.

The MBHS Alumni Association, led by Chairman Matthew Dingie, played a key role in the school’s revitalization.

Dingie highlighted their achievements since 2021 and the completion of the new classroom block, which addresses the strain on infrastructure originally designed for a single-shift system.

A 2019 visit revealed significant decline, prompting the alumni to act. The project, launched in 2022 during the school’s 148th Foundation Day, includes 18 classrooms, a laboratory, principal’s office, and restrooms.

Acting Principal Moses Conteh praised the new facilities, noting their importance as the school approaches its 150th anniversary and their positive impact on student performance.

Henry T. Luseni, Chairman of the School Board, and Sorie Turay, Executive Secretary of the Teaching Service Commission, both expressed their support for the single shift system, anticipating improvements in teaching and learning.

Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Conrad Sankey commended the project as a milestone, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the high standards of MBHS.

The ceremony concluded with a formal opening and inspection of the new facilities, marking a new chapter for the institution.
