A young boy identified as Fengai Abu Sorie allegedly stabbed his elder brother, Aiah Abu Sorie, at Kania Old Market in Koidu City, Kono District, on Sunday, 22 February 2026, at about 6:00 p.m.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred during an altercation between the two brothers at the market. Bystanders reportedly attempted to intervene, but Aiah Abu Sorie sustained serious injuries.
He was later conveyed to the Government Hospital in Koidu, where he was pronounced dead. Medical authorities are expected to conduct a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
The incident caused panic among traders and residents in the area, as news of the stabbing quickly spread across the market.
Authorities have reportedly launched an investigation into the matter to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Community members have called for calm while investigations continue.
