Richard Breima has been charged with robbery with violence and assault after he allegedly attacked and robbed a well-known businessman in Kenema.

The incident reportedly happened on the evening of Thursday, October 3, 2024, around 8:00 p.m. at Gava Forestry Quarters in the Nongowa Chiefdom, Kenema District.

The victim, Abdulai Darboh, who serves as the President of the Scrap Metal Association, was said to have been robbed of  $16,000, Le 20,000, and a silver wristwatch. Other items reported stolen include five jerry cans worth Le 3,080, thirty-nine gas bottles worth Le 216,500, and 5,000 kilos of aluminum zinc worth Le 195,700.

Darboh, alongside his colleague Almamy Mansaray of No. 18 Nico Lane, Kissy, reported the matter to the police the next day. He told the police that he was physically attacked during the robbery and sustained injuries. A suspect known as “Ground,” whose real name is Yassanch, was also mentioned in the report and may be recognized if seen.

According to A-Z Newspaper, following the complaint, police gave Darboh a medical form and referred him to the Kenema Government Hospital for treatment.

Breima is also facing a second charge of assault causing actual bodily harm under Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

The case was brought before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown. Prosecutor Alfred D. Williams, based at 19 Farma Street, Wellington, told the court he knew both the accused and the complainant. His statement was interrupted due to the emotional nature of the case.

The court has adjourned the matter to May 26, 2025, for further hearing.
