Accused person Aminata Kamara, a dealer in petroleum products, on Wednesday 29th March 2023 made her second appearance at the Magistrate Court No.1 before Magistrate Marke Ngegba for alleged unlawful trading.
It was alleged that the accused Aminata Kamara on 10th January 2023 found dealing in petroleum products without a license at the back of the Bintumani Hotel in Freetown.
The charge sheet furthered that the accused on the same date and place stored thirty rubber drums of diesel without a license.
Aminata Kamara is standing trial on three counts of charges, trading in petroleum without a license, storing diesel without a license, and dealing in petroleum without a license all contrary to Regulatory 70 of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency Act of 2016.
In his evidence Detective Sub Inspector Haba Dumbuya, attached to the Operations Department at the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters, recognized the accused in the dock and recalled 14th January 2023.
He said on that day, he was on duty when he received a case and inquiry file from Aberdeen Police Station adding that the file contained a statement from the arresting officer and voluntary caution statements of the accused with thirty (30) jerry cans of diesel.
The caution statement of the accused he said was tendered before the court as “exhibit AT-12″ and further stated that on the 17th of January 2023, he charged the accused with the offense of trading in fuel without a license.
The charge statement was also tendered as exhibit B1-2” Defense Counsel A. Bah sought for an adjournment to cross-examine the witness.
The accused is on bail and the matter was adjourned to April 5th, 2023 for cross-examination.
