Sam Sesay, 22, was sentenced to four years in prison for stealing from former Leone Stars coach John Keister’s residence at #5 Springer Street, off Johnson Street, Aberdeen.
At the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 in Freetown, Magistrate Santigie Bangura addressed charges of conspiracy and larceny stemming from the August 20, 2024 incident.
Despite pleading not guilty, evidence presented by prosecutor Juan M.S. Bull included testimonies from three witnesses, establishing that Sesay conspired with unknown individuals to steal 150,000 Leones. The Magistrate noted that Sesay did not counter the prosecution’s case.
Magistrate Bangura stated, “The evidence clearly establishes the elements of the offenses charged,” indicating that Sesay’s agreement with his accomplices led to the theft.
He further emphasized that the evidence overwhelmingly proved Sesay unlawfully took the money without consent, reinforcing the charge of larceny.
While Sesay pleaded for leniency before sentencing, the Magistrate described his behavior as “despicable,” highlighting the distress caused to the complainant.
“The accused’s actions must be addressed in our society,” he ruled, imposing a four-year sentence for each count to be served consecutively.
