The Pujehun District Officer, Foday Yusuf Kamara, efficiently organized the sectional election of Samba Section on Saturday, January 27th, 2024.
This is in the wake of the passing of Section Chief Alhaji Dao Samba.
The electoral stage featured two contenders, Sheku Kuyeteh and Keifa Kamara, vying for the coveted position of Section Chief.
Addressing the assembled traditional authorities and supporters, District Officer Kamara underscored the gravity of their decision, emphasizing its profound impact on the lives of over a thousand people. Encouraging them to vote conscientiously, he pledged that the election would be conducted with utmost fairness and transparency.
Following the casting and tallying of votes, Sheku Kuyeteh emerged as the triumphant candidate with 38 votes, while Keifa Kamara secured 20 votes. One vote was declared void in the process.
In his inaugural speech, Chief-elect Sheku Kuyeteh conveyed his joy at the impressive turnout and extended gratitude to the community for entrusting him with this responsibility. He pledged to work diligently to enhance the lives of his constituents and address their pressing needs, exemplifying a steadfast commitment to his newfound role.
The occasion culminated in vibrant traditional dances, adding a jubilant atmosphere to the celebration. The successful election of a new Section Chief in Samba Section, Kpanga Chiefdom, signifies a pivotal milestone in the community’s governance structure, heralding a new era of leadership and progress.
