Today, November 23, 2023, the Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHRDI) took a significant step forward in promoting gender equality and combating violence against women.
Engaging over 50 female university students from various institutions across Sierra Leone, CHRDI reaffirmed its commitment to amplifying women’s voices and eradicating harassment both online and offline.
This initiative forms part of CHRDI’s ongoing efforts to advance women’s rights. The WIRED project, supported by funding from Internews US, stands as a beacon for raising public awareness about the unique roles, challenges, and dangers faced by these women in their respective fields of study and work.
“Gender equality isn’t just a basic human right; it’s a cornerstone for a thriving, modern economy that fosters sustainable and inclusive growth,” remarked a CHRDI spokesperson. “Digital equality plays a pivotal role in creating fairer societies, nurturing healthier citizens, and strengthening economies. Ensuring women and girls have safe access to the internet and the opportunity to contribute online benefits not only individuals but society at large.”
CHRDI’s impactful engagement with these female students underscores a commitment to empower women, advocate for their rights, and foster an environment conducive to their success.
As the WIRED project continues its endeavors, CHRDI remains dedicated to spearheading positive change and creating a future where women are equal contributors to digital spaces and society’s progress.
