Christian Aid and its partners engaged community stakeholders in Koya Chiefdom, Port Loko district, to Enhance Land Governance.

Christian Aid expressed excitement over the engagement with the rightful individuals. “We are excited to share that we have engaged in dialogue sessions with community stakeholders, including women leaders, traditional and religious leaders in Koya Chiefdom, Port Loko district.’’ These sessions are undertaken by one of our implementing partners for the Uman, Land En Kol At project, Green Scenery.

Further adding that they are implementing the project in the Port Loko and Tonkolili districts.

According to Christian Aid, these sessions aim to strengthen and enhance understanding of the Customary Land Rights Act, the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Act, and the National Land Commission Act.

It also reinforce the accountability roles of traditional leaders in land governance. Identify gaps and collaboratively propose strategies for effective land laws implementation, and Foster commitments from authorities to promote gender equity in land governance.
