On Sunday, October 20, 2024, the community of Yonni Town celebrated a significant milestone as the groundbreaking ceremony for an ultramodern hospital took place.

This much-anticipated project is generously funded by local daughter Madam Holkey Dembe Nee Turay and facilitated by her sister, Madam Ranita Adama Koroma, both of whom have made substantial contributions to the development of Yonni Town in areas such as education, agriculture, and capacity building for girls and women.

During the ceremony, Madam Ranita Adama Koroma expressed her commitment to improving healthcare access for the community.

“For far too long, residents of Yonni Town have had to travel to other towns for medical services, which is unacceptable,” she said. “I took the initiative to reach out to my sister, Madam Holkey, to construct a hospital that will serve our people.”

Emphasizing the significance of their roots, Madam Koroma added, “Yonni is our motherland, and as God continues to bless us, it is our responsibility to bring development to our people. I urge everyone in Yonni to take ownership of this project and monitor its progress until completion.”

Town Chief Madam Marry Kaikai expressed her gratitude to the two sisters, stating, “We are thrilled to finally have a hospital in Yonni Town. I encourage other successful individuals from our community to follow in the footsteps of these remarkable sisters.”

Project supervisor Mr. Sullaman Sheriff outlined the hospital’s extensive facilities, which will include male and female wards, a labor room, a children’s ward, consultation rooms, staff offices and quarters, a pharmacy, a reception area, waiting areas, four toilets, and two birthing rooms, among other amenities. He assured the community that the project would be closely monitored to ensure the highest standards are met.

The hospital is expected to be completed within five months, marking a new chapter in healthcare for the residents of Yonni Town.

With this initiative, the sisters aim to enhance the quality of life for their community and ensure that essential health services are readily available.
