In a tragic series of events in Kenema District, four people, including children, have been killed by crocodiles, according to Hon. Juliana Fartoma, the local Member of Parliament.
Speaking in Parliament on Friday, July 9, 2024, Hon. Fartoma detailed the alarming situation in Lower Bambara and parts of Malego Chiefdoms, where the invasion of these crocodiles has caused widespread fear and disruption.
The crocodiles have been attacking individuals in the Owa and Maleh rivers, particularly targeting those crossing river points. The MP described a particularly distressing incident where a boy fetching water was found dead and mutilated by the reptiles. In total, the attacks have claimed five lives.
The escalating crisis has led to demands from the community for intervention, including the provision of a noisy boat to deter the crocodiles. The situation has also led to significant safety concerns for schoolchildren and has hindered access to farm lands.
In response to the urgent situation, Speaker Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas has instructed the Committees on Internal Affairs and Environment to investigate and report on the matter. He assured swift government action to address the crisis and protect the affected communities.

It is another method of cannibalism,it is a human design in crocodile form
Let the ministry of tourism come out again and release a press for this crocodile 🐊 destroying five lives.
Always kenema, why
Kenema again why this
It’s possible for crocs to go after humans. They are powerful predators. Government and the community should come together and captured the beast. Advice kids to stay away from banks of the river, or be caution when using boat to cross the river, especially when it rains.
Please ,find out ,if it is a real crocodile
I think government should built in bridges across those areas of crossing and provide safe drinking water for those communities, it will be the best solution.
