Ibrahim Kamara, a 28-year-old businessman, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre after allegedly stealing an iPhone 11 Pro Max and Le1,000 in cash from a commercial sex worker following an overnight stay at a guest house in Freetown.

Kamara is facing one count of Larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916. He made another appearance before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 8, where he is being tried for allegedly robbing Adama Sesay, the complainant.

According to police prosecutor Detective Police Constable 14898 Joseph Lamin Dumbuya, the incident occurred on Friday, 6th June 2025, at the Fullah Choice Guest House along Regent Road in the Western Area of Freetown.

Testifying in court, the complainant, Adama Sesay, narrated how she met the accused at a bar located at Regent Road Central by Goderich Street. Kamara reportedly bought her a drink a bottle of “Voody” and later asked if she would spend the night with him. She agreed and charged him Le700, but he said he did not have the money and managed to persuade her nonetheless.

Sesay said they both went to the guest house, but when she woke up the following morning, Kamara had disappeared along with her blue-black iPhone 11 Pro Max and Le1,000 in physical cash she had kept in her handbag.

She further testified that the guest house staff said they did not see him leaving, but the manager, one Samuel, said he noticed Kamara exiting the premises early in the morning carrying two mobile phones. The matter was reported to the Central Police Station, where Kamara was later arrested and brought in for questioning.

A second prosecution witness, Samuel Sesay, who works at the guest house, confirmed in court that he saw the accused that night heading upstairs to the VIP section with a woman. He added that while Kamara typically left around 6:00 or 7:00 a.m., on this occasion he requested the gate be opened at 4:00 a.m. while carrying two phones and a plastic bag.

Three days after the incident, the accused was found and taken back to the bar. When confronted, he reportedly said, “Take me to the police,” which they did.

The accused, who is not represented by a lawyer, cross-examined both witnesses in court.

Magistrate Samura denied bail due to the seriousness of the allegation and the risk of flight, ordering that Kamara be remanded until the next hearing, scheduled for 18th July 2025.
