The Eastern Technical University (ETU), Woama, Kono Campus, on the 7th January, 2024, conducted its Students’ Union Presidential Election.
The event attracted prominent academic figures, including the Dean of Campus, lecturers, and press representatives from leading radio stations and news outlets in Kono District and beyond.
The election featured a unique setup with two ballot boxes—one designated for the aspirant and the other for the College Administration.
David T. Charles was the sole aspirant for the presidency. He was given a platform to present his manifesto, outlining his plans and vision for the university. Among his promises were commitments to improving students’ welfare, enhancing academic support systems, and a collaborative relationship between the administration and the student body.
After delivering his manifesto, the election process commenced under the supervision of the appointed electoral commissioners. A total of 156 ballot papers were made available for the voting process. The results were as follows:
David T. Charles: 115 votes
College Administration: 1 vote
Invalid Votes: 3
Commissioner Isatu Sia Jalloh officially declared David T. Charles as the democratically elected Students’ Union President of Eastern Technical University, Woama Campus.
The announcement was met with jubilant celebrations across the campus, as students expressed their support and excitement for the leadership of their newly elected president.
David T. Charles now steps into his role with the backing of the students and a mandate to deliver on the promises made during his campaign.
