In a recent legal proceeding at Bo Magistrate Court No 1 in the Southern Region, Magistrate Lloyd Jusu sentenced David Wilson to jail. Wilson faced charges under Section 8(a) of the National Drugs Control Act 2008.
Inspector A K Kamara Esq served as the prosecutor, while Defence Counsel M M Sheriff Esq represented the accused. The case, identified as C/S 485/23, involved the unlawful possession of various quantities of kush, an electric scale, and an old green Nissan car with registration ASP 352.
During the first appearance on 16-11-2023, David Wilson pleaded guilty to the charges. Subsequently, on 23-11-23, Exhibit Clerk tendered all relevant exhibits, including 151 sachets and 6 ounces of kush, the electric scale, and the Nissan car. The court took decisive action, sentencing the accused to one year of imprisonment and imposing a fine of 5000 new Leones.
In the event of failure to pay the imposed fine, an additional penalty of 2 years imprisonment was stipulated. Notably, the old green Nissan car, identified as the proceeds of the crime, was confiscated to the state. The court decided that all exhibits would be preserved in the court repository, to be publicly destroyed at a later date.
