In a shocking incident that occurred on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, Mohammed Kargbo of Kamathorthoh village, Tonko Limba Chiefdom, Kambia District, accompanied by the village chief, James Samura, reported a gruesome murder to the Madina Police Station.
The victim, Santigie Kargbo, aged 58 years, was found lying dead in a pool of blood along the Kamathorthoh-Madina bush path. This publication aims to provide an overview of the incident and the subsequent investigation carried out by the Kambia Police Division.
On the mentioned date, around 02:15 hours, Mohammed Kargbo discovered the lifeless body of Santigie Kargbo, reasonably suspected to have been murdered with a machete by an unknown assailant. The village chief, James Samura, accompanied Mohammed Kargbo to the Madina Police Station to report the incident promptly.
Upon receiving the report, the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Kambia Police Division, CSP Mr. Abu Bakarr Magona, along with a team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers, promptly visited the crime scene. They documented the evidence by taking photographs, which revealed a deep cut on the victim’s neck.
To ascertain the cause of death, the remains of Santigie Kargbo were transported to the Kambia Government Hospital for an autopsy.
