In a townhall meeting attended by residents of Bolima community, Waterloo, the Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) East Rural District, Dr. Eldred Taylor, who also serves as the Deputy Minister of Energy, addressed key issues related to governance, social services, and infrastructure.
Dr. Taylor expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and noted that Bolima, like the rest of the East Rural District, holds significant importance for President Julius Maada Bio. He thanked the community for their strong support in the 2023 elections.
On security, Dr. Taylor emphasized the importance of vigilance and community support. He committed to covering a two-year rent for the Sierra Leone Police facility in the area and announced plans to build a permanent police post.
Addressing infrastructure concerns, Dr. Taylor acknowledged the poor road conditions and promised to facilitate discussions with relevant authorities to address the issue. He also pledged 100 bags of cement towards the construction of a community center.
Regarding electricity, Dr. Taylor assured residents that the government’s commitment to electrifying the community was evident, noting that the installation of poles, cables, and transformers was already underway.
Further plans include the construction of a market center and initiatives to empower women and youth through micro-credit facilities.
The residents of Bolima expressed their appreciation for Dr. Taylor’s visit and the ongoing development efforts by the SLPP in their district.
