The net has widened in the murder investigation of Lebanese shop owner Salim Alie Dayeck, with the recent charges of two additional suspects, Mohamed Kallon, also known as Gun Play, and Issa Lahai. The pair joins three others previously charged in connection with the case. All five suspects are currently in remand, awaiting their appearance before the High Court in Kenema.

Kallon, 20, and Lahai, 26, face two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony, specifically murder. Upon their initial appearance before Magistrate Shaka Papa Kamara, neither suspect entered a plea, and the case has been referred to the High Court.

The investigation revealed that Dayeck’s body was discovered in his bathroom following a brutal robbery that took place on September 11, 2024. Detectives reported that the businessman was murdered in his bedroom, and his body was subsequently placed in the restroom located above his shop.

One of the accused was apprehended at the crime scene, while two others were arrested within hours of the incident. The fourth suspect was implicated for selling a stolen cassava grinding machine at the Fisheries Market to the fifth suspect, Issa Lahai, who is also charged with receiving stolen property.

The earlier three suspects are accused of attacking Dayeck at his shop and residence on the morning of September 11, demanding money and valuables. Allegations indicate that during the robbery, Dayeck was brutally killed, suffering severe injuries, including deep cuts to his hands and a slashed neck.
