Residents of Beccles Street in Brookfields have called on the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), Office of the National Security (ONS), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Freetown City Council and the Ministry of Lands to come to the aid of the community and prevent a major disaster that has the propensity to claim lots of lives and properties.
According to our sources, if nothing is done to stop the ongoing construction of a car park in the main waterway of the community, lots of lives will perish just like the devastating flooding and mudslide of August 14th 2017 at Mortemeh in Hill Station. Our sources have implicated Councilor Abioseh Willison alias Mamanie of Ward 433 in Constituency 126 for authorizing the illegal construction of the car park in the waterway allegedly by one Musu Koroma.
As most people residing at Beccles Street are currently in shock as to the way and manner in which Councilor Abioseh of Ward 433 is pampering Musu Koroma to go ahead with the construction of the car park in the main drainage of the community, amidst the fears expressed by members of the community. This has left many tongues wagging as to the level of inhuman acts perpetrated in the full view of members of the public that is being aided and abated by Councilor Abioseh to her own selfish gains and left members of the community to suffer.
Considering the August 14th 2017 flooding and mudslide disasters in the country, this medium is of the view that stakeholders including the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), Office of the National Security (ONS), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Freetown City Council and the Ministry of Lands should act promptly to prevent the continuation of the construction of the car park in the main waterway at Beccles Street in Brookfields and save the country from another major disaster.
Some of the people that will be affected by this despicable act have also called on His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio to intervene and stop the ongoing construction in the main waterway and save the nation from another major disaster that has the tendency to affect other areas in Freetown.
