The Paramount Chief of Yoni Mabanta Chiefdom, PC Fullahmassa Gbabereh II has been ordered by the District Officer of Tonkolili to reinstate a Senior Section Chief he sacked a few weeks ago.
According to the Treasury Clerk of Yoni Mabanta Chiefdom, Abu “Lothy” Kamara, he has been ordered by the District Officer of Tonkolili District to write a letter and officially reinstate the sacked Section Chief. In a telephone conversation, the Clerk said he was going to write the letter and officially reinstate the Section Chief.
Pa Kapr Kabia, the most senior Section Chief in Yoni Mabanta Chiefdom was dismissed from his position by PC Fullahmassa Gbabereh and replaced by Alhaji Kamara, one of his blue-eye boys and followers.
PC Gbabereh’s decision was reportedly influenced by his younger brother, Alhassan Fullah, who has been criticized for his high-handedness and usurping the powers of his brother, the Paramount Chief. Fullah, brother of the Paramount Chief and a member of the main opposition All People’s Congress is said to have a political issue with the Section Chief whom he sees as an opponent from the ruling party.
The sacking of the Roruks Section Chief was widely criticized and described by many residents in the Chiefdom as illegal and unlawful because the sacked Chief did nothing wrong.
For clarification, the District Officer of Tonkolili was contacted by this reporter to ascertain the authenticity of the information.
In his submission over the phone, Saidu Momoh, the District Officer confirmed that he had ordered the Paramount Chief through his Treasury Clerk to reinstate the sacked Section Chief.
When the sack letter was written, the District Officer said he wasn’t reached or copied for his advice and he considered the sacking of the Section Chief illegal.
“I have ordered for the Section Chief to be reinstated and I’m sure they might have written the letter,” the District Officer stated.
The Paramount Chief is immediately not available for comment, and several efforts to get him over the phone have proven futile.
The decision to reinstate the sacked Section Chief is welcomed by the majority in the native Yoni Mabanta Chiefdom. For many, the decision would send a signal and stop the high-handedness of some members of the ruling family in the Chiefdom who think they will just wake up one morning and what they want.
