Mr. Obinna Uba, a teacher participating in the ECOWAS Volunteers Programme in Sierra Leone, has completed a transformative project at Saint Paul’s Secondary School in Pujehun.

His initiative involved installing fully animated science classrooms both inside and outside the school premises, revolutionizing the learning environment for students and teachers alike.

The animations cover a diverse array of topics, ranging from the skeletal system to the solar system, from mathematical symbols to campaigns against drug abuse. These visual aids provide invaluable support to teachers and facilitate enhanced comprehension and engagement among students.

The impact of Mr. Uba’s project has been profound, earning widespread acclaim from the local community, school staff, pupils, and even the school administration. St. Paul’s Secondary School has now become a magnet for visitors, drawn by the captivating scene created by the animated classrooms.

Speaking on behalf of the school administration, Principal Mr. Foday Sallu Massaquoi praised the initiative as both inspirational and instructive, emphasizing its unparalleled significance in the school’s history. He expressed gratitude to the ECOWAS Volunteers Programme and urged students to fully utilize the opportunities provided for their education and development.

In addition to the animated classrooms, Mr. Uba also undertook renovations at the school’s wildlife conservatory, enhancing the living conditions for Momoh Kimi, the endangered crocodile residing there. Furthermore, he generously supplied the school library with much-needed dictionaries, enriching students’ learning experiences and empowering them to expand their vocabulary and literacy skills.

The impact of Mr. Uba’s efforts has not gone unnoticed by the broader community, as evidenced by a surprise visit from Mr. Paul Sengeh, an esteemed alumnus of St. Paul’s Secondary School and the father of Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh. Mr. Sengeh commended the exemplary work of Mr. Uba and urged ECOWAS to further its commitment to advancing education in Sierra Leone.

The success of Mr. Obinna Uba’s pet project serves as a testament to the transformative potential of dedicated individuals and international cooperation in fostering educational excellence and community development.
