Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) has paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Tourism, Dr Memunatu Pratt, with a team headed by the Regional Portfolio Manager, West, and Central Africa Desmond Tijinbun.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the work done in the different EIF projects and look at the gaps ahead of wrapping the projects in March.
Welcoming the team, Minister Dr Memunatu Pratt stated that it’s a pleasure for having the team in the country adding that, the project has changed the face of the Tourism sector as the ministry has been able to implement all the activities.
She said for the e development of the eco-lodges and tourism facilities in Tiwai, Wara Wara, and Banana Island, all players must be on their toes to get the desired results for the Hotel and Tourism Training Center (HTTC) at Milton Margain.
The Minister suggested they look at other infrastructural enhancements on the eco-lodges, construct eco-lodges in other areas, provide boat services, skill development, management of waste, beach management, and women and youths in their activities.
In their statement, the Director of Tourism, Mohamed Jalloh and Permanent Secretary, Edward Kwame Yankson complimented the project, adding that it is clear that the EIF projects are doing very well and asked that more facilities be added in the various project sites to make it a complete package.
In his address, the Regional Portfolio Manager for West and Central Africa for EIF, Desmond Tijinbun Ngochi stated that they were happy to work with the tourism team.
He emphasized that Sierra Leone is one of the countries with good performances of EIF projects, commending the tourism industry for the early submission of the increase in fund proposal.
