Officials at the Mile 91 Police Division, in the Tonkolili District, Northern Sierra Leone, have on Monday 15th, April 2024 arrested eleven people found in possession of illegal drugs.
According to a public notice from the Media Department of the Mile 91 Division, the suspects were arrested by an operation team at various places known to be drug cartels.
“As of yesterday Monday the 15 of April 2024, at 1800 hours, a team of police officers at the Mile 91 Division headed by the Operations officer superintendent John Songbo Mansaray swiftly lunched and attacked various locations believed to be the den of Kush dealers within the township of Mile 91,” the Police Media update reads.
The operations, the Police said came after an intelligence was given to the police by some community members.
“The operation came as a result of intelligence received from the operations desk within the day,” the notice reads.
Eleven suspects were reportedly arrested for the offense of unlawful possession of drugs which include cannabis sieve (Jamba), Tramadol, and kush.
This has been one of the most successful operations as the team abandoned their vehicle and walked to the various gray areas of Kush dealers swiftly and conducted condos and searches.
As the fight against the sales and consumption of narcotic drugs continues, the Operations team says it will continue to hit other communities and villages as information unfolds.
The suspect together with the exhibit has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Mile 91 Division for further investigation.
