A devastating fire on Thursday, December 21st, 2023 has left ten family members of a village in northern Sierra Leone homeless.
Residents of Massosingbi village, in Simiria Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, were sleeping on the day of the incident when the fire engulfed burning down properties worth millions in local currency.
Sorie Foday Bangura, the head of the family said all personal belongings, fiscal cash, rice, ground, and zinc were burnt.

“Even school and learning materials belonging to school-going pupils were burnt,” Bangura said.

Since the occurrence of the incident, he said they have been sleeping outside because all of the houses and properties have been burnt down adding that even their clothes, he said have burnt down.
“Our children can not afford to go to school since the incident occurred and we are asking for help,” he stated.

The family called on humanitarians , Tonkolili District Council the government of Sierra Leone and other humanitarian institutions to help in their current crisis.
