The family of the late Mr. Mohamed Titi Kamara has demanded the immediate removal of social media posts falsely linking him to a recent masquerade-related death.
In a public notice issued on 7 January 2026, the family said, images of Mr. Kamara have been widely shared online alongside claims that he was the individual who died while dressed in a masquerade costume during a cultural procession.
The family described the claims as false, stressing that Mr. Kamara had no connection to the masquerade incident and that there is no factual or eyewitness evidence supporting the allegation.
According to the notice, the continued circulation of the images and claims has caused emotional distress, public ridicule, and reputational harm to the family during a period of mourning.
The family has called on all individuals, blogs, social media pages, and media platforms that have published or shared the content to remove it immediately, warning that responsibility extends not only to original publishers but also to those who repost or fail to take down the material after notice.
They have given a 48-hour deadline for the removal of all related posts and cautioned that failure to comply could result in legal action, including defamation claims.
The family also urged the public to verify information before sharing it online and to respect the dignity of the deceased and the privacy of grieving families.
