Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, has issued a formal notice addressing the recent disturbances on its campus.

The administration has initiated disciplinary hearings in response to the violent outbreaks that occurred over the past three nights.

The college’s notice informs all students and members of the community that a thorough investigation is underway. Identified alleged perpetrators are being scrutinized against the available evidence to determine if their cases should be forwarded to the College Discipline Committee for further investigation and appropriate recommendations.

At present, three students have been identified as suspects and are invited to assist the Discipline Committee with its investigations. They are:

●Mohamed Beloski Kamara, Year 2, Law
●Mohamed Denis Kargbo aka Colonel, Year 1, Diploma in Legal Studies
●Daniel Khalil Kamara, Year 4, Law

In a related incident, Samuel Lahai, who was reported to have fallen from the balcony of one of the male hostels, was taken to the College Clinic for treatment. It was discovered that Lahai is not a current student of the college; he had previously failed to complete his B.Sc. in Geology and had abandoned his studies. Lahai claimed he was on campus to “talk” to other students. He has been issued a police medical and transferred to the Police Hospital, where he will assist the police with their investigations.

The college administration has assured that a more detailed list of identified current students will be published tomorrow as the Discipline Committee reviews the evidence and prepares for swift hearings.

The college urges all bona fide students to continue with their normal activities and assures them of full security on campus. The administration is committed to taking decisive action to maintain peace and order, and to weed out individuals intent on causing disruptions.
